Friends, You will be happy to know that my play "Awagha Rang Ekchi Zala" is selected for the prestigious International Theater Festival held by National School of Drama ( NSD ) starting on Jan 7th in New Delhi and Jan 10th in Lucknow. In fact the organizers were so impressed with the play that they are going to inaugurate the festival in both places with our play. It is indeed a proud moment for all the Marathi and NRI natyapremi to have this Marathi sangeet play by an NRI playwrite as an inaugural event for an international theater festival.Here is the link.

The first show was in October 19 07, 111Th show was exactly one year later October 19 08.It is a miracle that in a low season of Marathi natak industry, a sangeet natak should do so well. A new sangeet Marathi natak is coming on Marathi stage after 40 long years . The last sangeet natak was 'Katyar Kaljat Ghusli'.
The play is about a Keertankar family in Pune.The hero is 82 year old Padmashri Prasad Savkar and the heroine is 15 year old Swarangi Marathe. I wrote the play on Prabhakar Panshikar but he could not do it due to health reasons but since he had liked the play he wanted to produce it. It is produced by his production company Natyasampada. This company had closed down as Panshikar wanted to retire. Not only The play opened doors of Natysampada but it also brought Prasad Savkar back on the stage after 25 years hiatus.
