Akhil Autism Foundation is a non-profit organization registered in the USA. The organization is dedicated to help individuals with Autism, ADHD, developmental delays and learning disabilities. The main goal of the organization is to educate parents, professionals and care givers to create awareness on various treatment options and interventions available. Autism epidemic is growing rapidly and our goal is to create a hope and to fight against this disease.

What is Autism ?
Autism is a severe developmental disorder that begins at birth or within the first two-and-a-half years of life. Most autistic children are perfectly normal in appearance, but spend their time engaged in puzzling and disturbing behaviors which are markedly different from those of typical children. Less severe cases may be diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) or with Asperger's Syndrome (these children typically have normal speech, but they have many "autistic" social and behavioral problems).

There is a myth that autism is just a fate that it should be accepted. The good news is that there are now a wide variety of treatment options which can be very helpful. Some treatments may lead to great improvement as well.
There is no single treatment protocol for all children with autism, but most individuals respond best to highly structured behavioral programs  especially when combined with biomedical intervention.

Akhil Autism Foundation will hold our Annual Walk-A-Thon on Sunday June 14, 2009 at Thompson Park 805 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft, NJ.  Funds raised will be used for creating awareness of autism, conducting educational workshops and providing resources for all the individual affected with autism.
Akhil Autism Foundation is looking for corporate sponsors. There are many many families with low-income and cannot afford the treatments and need consultation from therapy to different diets and biomedical aspects.
